Program Overview

The Mathematics & Statistics department offers programs that range from pure mathematical theory to applied statistical analysis. With small class sizes (average 18 students) and a strong emphasis on undergraduate research, students work closely with faculty mentors on original research from their sophomore year. Our actuarial science track has a 95% pass rate on the first two SOA exams.

Concentrations

Pure Mathematics

Abstract algebra, real analysis, topology, and number theory. Preparation for PhD programs.

Applied Mathematics

Differential equations, numerical methods, optimization, and mathematical modeling.

Actuarial Science

Probability, financial mathematics, risk theory, and SOA exam preparation. 95% pass rate on Exam P and FM.

Statistical Science

Regression, Bayesian statistics, experimental design, and computational statistics.
