Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account info: name and email, provided when you sign in via Google or Microsoft
• Activity in the portal: pages you visit, posts you save, communities you follow
• Contributions: comments, posts, stories, photos, and questions you submit
• Tech metadata: anonymous device + browser info via Capture's tracking infrastructure

We do not collect Social Security numbers, government IDs, or financial-account details through this portal. Tuition payment goes through the Bursar's TouchNet portal under a separate privacy policy.

What we do with it

We use your activity and contributions to personalize your feed (so you see what's relevant to your family situation) and to improve the portal. We never sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers.

FERPA-protected student records are kept strictly separate — see the FERPA guide for how that works.

Your rights

You can:

• Export everything we have on you (email privacy@captureu.edu)
• Delete your account and all associated data (email same address)
• Adjust what we collect via Global Privacy Control in your browser — we honor it
• Sign out, which clears your session immediately

Cookies and tracking

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in (`family_session`) and a tracker cookie for Capture's behavioral platform (`_capcon`). No third-party advertising cookies. Both are first-party and cleared on sign-out.
