About FERPA · The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) was passed by Congress in 1974. It gives college students certain rights with respect to their educational record. Once a student turns 18 or enrolls in a postsecondary institution, those rights transfer from the parent to the student. With your student's consent (or, in limited cases, dependency status), you can request access to the specific records below.

Footnote: Although students' approval is preferred, under FERPA colleges and universities may release information to parents or legal guardians without the consent of the student, if the student is a dependent for tax purposes under IRS rules. Capture University will verify both the relationship and dependency claim before granting access.
